Verify Validity
AI-powered fact-checking and plagiarism detection for your scribes
Verify Validity
Verify Validity uses AI to fact-check claims in your scribe content and detect potential plagiarism. Available for Pro and Creator subscribers.
How It Works
Fact-Checking
The Verify button in your Workspace toolbar sends your content to an AI agent that:
- Extracts factual claims — dates, statistics, named events, attributions, cause-effect statements
- Searches the web for evidence supporting or contradicting each claim
- Assigns a verdict to each claim:
- Verified — reliable sources confirm the claim
- Disputed — sources contradict the claim (with a suggested correction)
- Unverified — no clear evidence found
- Opinion — subjective statement, not a factual claim
- Returns a report with source links you can check yourself
Two Verification Modes
- Simple Verify — a single-pass check. Returns search links per claim so you can verify the sources yourself. Good for quick checks. Uses a modest portion of your allowance.
- Deep Verify — a multi-step analysis. Searches the web separately for each claim and evaluates the evidence in detail. Better for thorough fact-checking. Uses several times more than Simple Verify.
Plagiarism Check
A separate option that searches the web for text matching your content. Returns potential matches with source links and similarity levels (high, medium, low).
Using Verify
- Open your scribe in the Workspace
- Click on a section to open the editor
- Click the Verify button (shield icon) in the toolbar
- Choose Simple Verify, Deep Verify, or Check Plagiarism
- Optionally add a focus question (e.g., "Is this date correct?")
- Review the cost estimate and click to confirm
- Results appear below the editor
Verifying Selected Text
You can highlight specific text in the editor before clicking Verify. Only the selected text will be checked — useful for verifying a single paragraph or claim without checking the entire section.
Results
Results are automatically saved to your Notebooks as verification notes. You can:
- View all verifications in Notebooks using the Verifications filter
- Each verification note includes the full report with claims, verdicts, and source links
- Use the Copy button on suggested fixes for disputed claims
Tips for Best Results
- Be specific — highlight a paragraph rather than verifying an entire long section
- Add a focus question — guide the AI to check what matters most to you
- Use Simple Verify first — it's cheaper and often sufficient. Use Deep Verify when you need thorough analysis
- Check the sources — AI fact-checking is helpful but not infallible. Always click through to the source links
- Verify non-fiction content — fact-checking works best on content with verifiable claims (dates, statistics, events). Creative writing will mostly return "opinion" verdicts
Cost
Verification uses tokens from your balance:
| Mode | Relative cost |
|---|---|
| Simple Verify | A modest portion of your allowance |
| Deep Verify | Several times more than Simple Verify |
| Plagiarism Check | Similar to Simple Verify |
The exact per-action cost is shown before you confirm so you always know what you're spending. You won't be charged if verification fails.
