Reading Mode
Read scribes with highlights, notes, and customizable reading preferences
Overview
Coffeescribe's Reading Mode provides a clean, focused environment for reading your scribes. It includes tools for highlighting, note-taking, dictionary lookups, and customizable display preferences.
Reading Your Scribe
Open any scribe from your Library or the public library. The reader displays:
- Chapter and section navigation
- Reading progress bar
- Full-width content area optimized for readability
Highlighting
Select any text to see the highlight toolbar. Choose from four colours:
- Yellow — General highlights
- Blue — Important concepts
- Pink — Key quotes or passages
- Orange — Items to review
You can change a highlight's colour or remove it at any time. All highlights are saved automatically and can be viewed in your Notebooks.
Notes
Add notes to any highlighted passage or create standalone notes for a section:
- Click on a highlight to add or edit a note
- Notes support tags for organization
- View all your notes in the Notebooks section
- Notes are linked to their scribe and section for context
Dictionary
Select a single word (1-30 characters) to look it up with the built-in dictionary. This is useful for unfamiliar terms or checking definitions while reading.
Copy Text
Select text and use the copy option to copy passages to your clipboard.
Reading Preferences
Customize how scribes are displayed. Your preferences are saved automatically.
