Common Errors
What error messages mean and how to resolve them
Generation Errors
"Generation failed — please try again"
The AI model encountered an error while generating content. This is usually temporary.
What to do:
- Wait a moment and try again
- If the error persists, try a different AI model
- Check your token balance — you may have run out of credits
"Rate limit exceeded"
You've sent too many requests in a short period.
What to do:
- Wait 1-2 minutes before trying again
- This is especially common during peak usage times
"Model unavailable"
The selected AI model is temporarily offline or overloaded.
What to do:
- Try a different AI model
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Budget models are generally more available than premium ones
Scribe Errors
"Scribe not found"
The scribe you're trying to access doesn't exist or has been deleted.
Possible causes:
- The scribe was deleted by its creator
- The URL is incorrect or outdated
- The scribe is private and you don't have access
"You don't have permission"
You're trying to access a feature that requires ownership or a higher tier.
Common scenarios:
- Trying to edit someone else's scribe
- Accessing the Workspace on a Free or Pro tier
- Trying to make a scribe private on the Free tier
Export Errors
"Export limit reached"
You've used your export quota for this period.
Limits:
- Free: 1 PDF per week
- Pro: 12 PDFs per month
- Creator: Unlimited
"Export failed"
The export process encountered an error.
What to do:
- Try the export again
- For large scribes, wait a bit longer — the process may timeout on very long scribes
- Try exporting to a different format
Account Errors
"Session expired"
Your login session has expired.
What to do:
- Log in again
- This is normal after extended periods of inactivity
"Email already in use"
An account with this email already exists.
Possible causes:
- You already have an account (try logging in instead)
- You signed up with a different method (email vs Google vs GitHub)
- Try the "Forgot Password" flow to recover access
